The Cone of Shame

Let's talk about Teemo for a minute here, okay. My poor stylish little bud hasn't been feeling his best lately, most likely due to some heavy allergies to this area in Pennsylvania. While his 'sister' Raynor's allergies have subsided, his poor feet, nose, and ears have turned red and itchy. Teemo is mixed with what we believe is a type of terrier, probably Jack Russel, and makes him a bit neurotic. He cannot stop biting himself, so while he is healing and trying out new medicines, we have to keep him in the cone fairly often so he cannot bite. He's sneaky about it too. He will pretend to chew a bone, then move to his feet! It is so sad to see your pup in pain. I especially hate seeing Teemo in pain because he is such a trooper - even when he had his bout with dog flu he stayed happy and upbeat. I thought sharing how adorable he looks in his cone would be good - this dog looks adorable no matter what I put him in, I swear. I kind of envy that.

  1. Something I learned from Cesar Milan (oh dear, I already sound like a super-tool, and this comment has just begun) is exercising your dogs totally reduces those weird neurotic habits. My dog licks himself and gnaws on his paws and does all sorts of freakish, obnoxious things when I don't take him on at least a mile of walks a day. It's a huuuuge hassle, but it's better than the weird smell his fur gets when he licks himself a lot or the self-wounding.

And we just found out a few weeks ago that my pitbull, Snow, has allergies to grass... GRASS! He's been on medication since. >sigh<

  9. Monte has what we call blood paws. He licks, licks, licks his paws and his saliva makes them red. The licking is because he's itchy from allergies. So I feel your pain! He also scratches himself a lot. So frustrating, especially when our other dog doesn't seem at all bothered!
