Tangram Foxes Pillowcases

Tangram Fox Pillows On Bed

I really wanted some additional cute pillow cases for our bed in the new home. I found a few cute ones online, but they were all white pillowcases with small graphics priced around $40 dollars. I decided I could make my own drawings and stencil them for about $15, so that's exactly what I did. Here's a tutorial and some vector graphics for you to use as well!

What You'll Need
Iron & Ironing Board
PDF Stencil (Download)
8.5" x 11" White Shipping Labels OR Freezer Paper & 8.5" x 11" Printer Paper
E-Xacto Knife
Fabric Paint in Two Colors (I chose gold and red)
2 Standard Pillowcases

First, grab this PDF. Print the PDF out on two 8.5 x 11 white shipping labels OR print out on 2 normal 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper. If using nornmal paper, cut a sheet about 2" larger on all sides in size from freezer paper. Then tape the 8.5 x 11 print out to the freezer paper.

Carefully cut out the stencil with an exacto blade. If you want to get all precise, use a straight edge! I also cut the heart out from the fox to position correctly on the pillowcase

Warm your iron up to the cotton/linen setting. Once hot, iron the pillow case. Then, either peel the backing off and place the stencil down (shipping label) OR place the stencil with the coating side down (freezer paper) where you want it on your pillowcase. For both options, iron evenly across the stencil for about a minute. (This makes the freezer paper stick and the shipping label flat and stick better)

With your fabric paint, evenly paint a layer over the stencil. I used gold for the foxes and red for the heart. You don't have to be precise as the stencil does the work for you, just make sure to fill it all in.

Allow to dry for a few hours. Then carefully peel the paper off the fabric and allow to dry overnight.
Place pillows inside, and voila! A nice, inexpensive way to spice up a room.
