the teemo!

I thought it was about time I wrote a little about how Teemo & I came to be together and adopting a pup. Teemo is from a humane society located a north of where Jason and I lived in Cincinnati at the time. I found him on Petfinder while looking for possible foster dogs! Here are some tips on finding the perfect dog based off of how we came about getting Teemo.

Teemo and I went for a nice walk along the riverfront park in downtown Harrisburg and ended by taking photos with the capitol behind us. I am getting a lot better of setting up the tripod and just taking my photos. I mean, I'm in the middle of a street for this photo. Confidence is a really funny thing to me.

Also, Teemo looks super ready for congress in his bow tie. I love walking him around down town in this dress and these shoes and his bow tie - it makes me feel like we're fancy or something.

Homemade Burgers

I love burgers. Turkey burgers. Beef burgers. Tofu burgers. Whatever. They have such versatility and can be made into anything. Jason and I use our own seasoning recipes that I wanted to share here today. I'll explain how to use it for ground meat (turkey, beef) and sliced tofu.
When I moved here, I was convinced I would be going out on weekends to new restaurants, trying new things, and really diving into my new area. But as time has gone on, it has gotten harder for me to do all of these things on my own. But now that Jason is gone again, I'm really trying to focus on making the best of this and finding the good things. So I found the West Shore Farmer's Market and bought delicious Hammond's Pretzels, smoked cheddar cheese, fresh peaches, 1/4 of a watermelon, and local honey. I wanted to take photos inside as it is a large market with all kinds of booths, but it was incredibly crowded. With Jason around, I can look through the lens and focus on my photo and he directs me and pushes me around lightly when I'm in the way. But alone, I feel strange being the little girl with the giant camera taking photos in too large of a crowd.

So obviously I'm really into taking photos at the capital. As time goes on, I'm going to focus on taking photos all around the Capitol complex. Also, this little Hello Kitty bag is one I hand stenciled myself. I was thinking of doing a DIY on making fabric stencils from freezer paper like I did with this little tote.

I don't make friends in a normal way. There isn't a single one of my friends that when asked how I met them, we don't exchange strange looks before we blurt out an answer. I ran up to one girl at a concert and said 'I'm your friend on Myspace' then ran away. Yeah, Myspace - remember that? And yes, we're still friends. My maid of honor is the girlfriend of one of my ex-boyfriends, who we both kind of met through Myspace. I met another friend because I was knitting and we were waiting for a class outside in a hallway and we discussed how we don't like people. My only friend I have made outside of work here in Harrisburg I met on Yelp because she posted about moving to Harrisburg, being my age, and needing to find a cool place to live. And then I messaged her to come get a drink with me because i'm just creepy like that.

And yes, I believe if you live in an 8 hour radius of me, or somewhere in Florida, I totally think we should meet up. This is how I've been since before meeting people on the internet was cool and okay. Heck, I'm still anticipating the day I meet up with my friend Lena, who lives in Portugal.

This outfit is a representation of 'I'm gunna wear sequins to work today because I can' and 'I'm going out on the town tonight' and by the town, I mean with my girl friend from Yelp, and to the only bar I go to. I'm home by like 9pm.

So, it's not a cardigan. It's just a sweater. The corgi isn't even a Cardigan, it's a Pembroke. Anyhow, this sweater is my new favorite thing. I couldn't be happier with the fact I get to wear this around, and I cannot wait to feature it here. I have many plans brewing in my head already for how to remix this, especially with polka dots.

Jason and I took a trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country (which is not far at all let me be clear) where we drank delicious wine and ate yummy pretzels in a town called Intercourse. Cheese, wine, and pretzels are pretty much staples of life to me, and I enjoyed this thoroughly.

So from now on, you will no longer see me creeping in fields or down by the river. Let me be clear, I'm a city girl. I never went camping as a kid, unless you count bunking with my youth minister's future wife in the back of their Subaru in the 8th grade. Everyone else was in a tent. Anyhow, I want to tell you this, but I also don't. But the other day I was rummaging through my purse and camera bag looking for my remote (I lost that, oops) but anyhow, out jumps a tick.

I flipped out. Because it did land on my hand and burrow like immediately because I tensed. Thank goodness Jason was here because I would have had no clue what to do. It was the purse I brought down to the river, so I can only assume it happened then, but I have no idea really. Anyhow. I'm looking to stay near the city and not find creepy crawlies sucking my blood when I get home.

Oh, Harrisburg, capital of Pennsylvania, bankrupt city you....your grounds happen to be quite beautiful and the building too, yet I have never taken pictures around you. That changes today.

I hope to take more pictures around the capital building and its grounds as time goes on. This first group is just taken by the corner of the property, in front of a large statue of an old Harrisburg senator. I know very little of Pennsylvania history since I didn't grow up here. Okay, let's face it, I didn't even know this was the capital up until I got an interview here. But now I do, so I will share it with you. Also, really excited because I fixed this dress by just ripping out the boning that was popping through the top.
