The Quaking Leaves

Every now and then I remember that I can do a lot more with my camera than stand in front of it and stare at. I got the bright idea to play with my bokeh kit and actually get all manual with my outfit photos - which means these were a challenge to take because they are manually exposed and manually focused. Lots of me standing in one spot, taking the photo, marking that spot with a leaf, and zooming in to see if I was in focus or not. I find this kind of thing relaxing, honestly  trying to get the shot right and all the little bokeh birds swimming around me. These are minorly edited for contrast and brightening, but I uploaded a few straight out of camera shots for you curious ones over here. Immediately after this I had to go grocery shopping which is the stressful part of Sundays because I can never remember what side of the road the store by me is on.

  1. Oh, that sweater is so cute and so are your nails! Do you get tired of me telling you that all the time by the way?! Maybe you should just assume it, so I don't have to say the same thing all the time! Hee hee! -I do not yet know\understand how to zoom in with my camera remote or if my camera is even capable of doing that! Oh, and I do believe that the DH and I will be visiting Ohio in December\January! -Jess L

  2. I have been meaning to learn how to use my camera forever now. I only have a little Canon XS (or something like that . . .) but I am confident that it can do more than I use it for. Your pics are always so amazing, you are inspiring me to figure it out! I love your sweater Katherine!

  5. I'm sure my camera can do way more than I actually know about. That background is so cool, I always love your pictures. The details on the sweater are so darn cute, too.

  6. Your sweater is adorable.

I've been trying to fool around a bit with my old camera as well. Unfortunately that meant loads and loads of blurry photos. I can't give up though because I love your backgrounds here.

  8. Your nails are the BEST!!! I love the dress with the striped blazer, the perfect colour combination. It is relaxing to spend some time and take outfit picture manually, it's a learning experience and can be so fun (as long as it's not -10 out...)

  10. I think you did a great job using manual settings on your camera! I never use any other setting on my camera other than manual, and I remember when I never used it (about 4 years ago) because I was scared I would ruin every shot! Every now and then it's a miss, but usually 80% of the time it's a hit ;). It's so freeing and makes it so much more personal!

  12. I just started using my tripod and remote thanks to all the Flock Together outfits I have to shoot and the limited access I have to my fiance/natural light. It's really hard to get it looking perfect like yours! I guess practice makes perfect :)
