The Transitional Burger Recipe

Homemade Burgers

I love burgers. Turkey burgers. Beef burgers. Tofu burgers. Whatever. They have such versatility and can be made into anything. Jason and I use our own seasoning recipes that I wanted to share here today. I'll explain how to use it for ground meat (turkey, beef) and sliced tofu.

  Homemade Burgers
What You'll Need :
Around 1 pound of ground meat OR 1 package extra firm tofu
Worcestershire Sauce
Garlic Powder
Seasoned Salt
Chili Powder
White Pepper
Paprika
Brown Sugar
Optional : Jack Daniels or Whiskey
For Tofu Only : Nutritional Yeast

Homemade Burgers

Mix together the following ingredients : 2 teaspoons paprika, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 2 teaspoons seaseond salt, 1 teaspoon white pepper, 2 teaspoons garlic, 2 teaspoons brown sugar. And mix together well!

Homemade Burgers

Mix together 2 tablespoons (4 tablespoons for the tofu) of Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon whiskey. Combine the spices and the liquid and swirl well. Soak tofu overnight in the fridge. For the meat, throw it in the bowl and with your hands, mix the spices in well. Form into patties.

Homemade Burgers

Using a grill pan or skillet over medium heat, cook burgers to your liking, flipping to get it evenly.

Homemade Burgers

For tofu, use a skillet, and drizzle lightly with soy sauce and cook until golden brown. Sprinkle each slice with 1 teaspoon nutritional yeast on each side, and cook until crispy.

Homemade Burgers

Serve it up with yummy sauces! We had homemade red onion jam, barbeque sauce, and ketchup! Homemade ketchup is a treat and much better than bottled, though I still personally don't like it, I didn't hate this. We also had turkey bacon, sharp white cheddar, and sharp white American up for grabs.

  2. Sounds delicious. I really like black bean burgers or Amy's Kitchen vegan burgers (I guess the theme here is that I haven't had a real burger in a long, long time) but this looks lovely!

  18. Try it with tofu! Or tofu crumbles - I love doing the tofu crumbles with the same seasoning and putting it in cheesy soup.
