My friend Megan's bachelorette party was on Saturday, and us girls had such a great time celebrating Megan's coming nuptials. We are all so happy for her and her groom, Steve, and I cannot believe that their wedding is next weekend! It seems like just yesterday Megan was with me for my bachelorette party!

Lettin' It All Hang Out
Megan's fancy Bachelorette cup & appropriately inappropriate straw

We took Megan to some of her favorite places in Over the Rhine in Cincinnati. It was a wonderful classy place to have this. First, we wandered to Japp's, an amazing bar with even more amazing cocktails.

Isn't my friend Megan the cutest? We picked her up this dress at anthropologie earlier today - it will be perfect for her on her honeymoon - and it was the perfect dress for the night out too!

A Tavola was amazing as usual - our pizzas and appetizers were so great! We finished the night dancing to 90's music at another local bar, then headed back to Megan's place.

I happened to take my photos before we went out so that I wasn't distracting from the moment worrying about them. Plus, daylight is wonderful.

You know those days where things just don't go well? Well I have had one of those days. Maybe one of those months. I dunno. Anyhow, I was determined to come home, cuddle Teemo, and relax. So I want to share with you how I relax after a long day.

Taking a walk with Teemo and getting a package from my dear friend Megan. Her wedding is next weekend  and her bachelorette party is this weekend!

Delicious sea salt dark chocolate caramels and a nice glass of Riesling!

Teemo got a bone! And my I did my nails in a nice spring color manicure!

I love online shopping and looking at my blogs on my iPad. Commenting or buying is a pain, so I just browse.

I dyed my hair! And the cut is coming soon.

Hart of Dixie is my ultimate favorite for relaxation nights. I love Rachel Bilson in it.

What do you do to relax after a rough day?
I wanted to let you all know that yesterday when I said 'my hairstylist left town' I meant that the 'girl I liked at the Great Clips hopefully got a better job but it's still out of town.' And going back home to get my hair done means 'I can't find anywhere around here that does it for under 40 dollars/does a good job, so I'm driving back home to go to my 20 dollar hair cut place.'

In short, I'm really embarrassing too guys. I had one hair dresser I loved, and she couldn't style hair, but she gave the best hair cuts ever. Anyhow, I really hate spending a lot of money on something I have to get cut a lot, and this pixie cut grows like crazy. Crazy. Crazy I tell you.

Today's outfit is inspired by wanting to be June Carter Cash. I adore her. And I seriously wish it wasn't raining out, but because it was, you get this little gem :

Time is flying by. I have realized lately, when I post comments, that a lot of things I'm replying to happened to me way too many years ago. I've been with Jason for 6 years. My one year anniversary is fast approaching. It's hard to even realize I've been here 8 months. It is very strange when I take a step back and look at where I am now. I seriously don't know how this is where I ended up.

I'm going back home for two weekends in row coming up. One weekend for a friend's wedding, and the other for her bachelorette party, but really to get my haircut because I panicked this weekend because my hair stylist moved out of town. So I'm driving 500 miles to get a haircut. This is the kind of person I am.

So here's an outfit! This is such a great dress - and a great sale find a year or two ago.

I went to a very fun Cinco de Mayo/Derby party yesterday. I don't have many friends in Harrisburg, and I am fortunate to have a friend who invites me to awesome things. I love derby and was excited to sit and watch it with friends while drinking mint juleps - there is nothing better than a bourbon mint slushy. Not to mention all of the delicious food I got to eat - I know good cooks! I tried to wear the most derby-ish thing without being overly ridiculous - so my gold head band and Emily & Fin dress were the great choice.

To be honest, I took these photos today though. I baked all morning yesterday, got dressed, and went on my merry way. and that's why all the Polka Dog for Target stuff is featured. I went to two Targets (the first didn't have the collars and rope toys) but Teemo has an adorable new collar.

Whiskey Double Chocolate Cookies

Mint Julep Cupcakes

Today is the 138th Kentucky Derby! I'm going to a friends for a Derby / Cinco de Mayo party, but before I go, I wanted to share two delicious recipes with you. First, double chocolate whiskey cookies, and second, mint julep cupcakes.
One thing I really want to overcome is my fear of taking photos in public. I tend to scout out hidden locations, but this beautiful river front park is some where I had been dying to take photos. I started out small, on the far end of the outskirts of the city, and may slowly make my way down. It's not as interesting at this end, but it's a start to overcoming something that makes me very nervous.

Tell me, if you take your own photos with a tripod and self timer or remote, how do you handle the awkward feat of doing this in public? Please, please, please share your tips.

So voila, the beautiful Suquehanna River about 2 miles outside of the center of downtown Harrisburg and me making awkward faces as I take photos of myself with cars driving by.

I had one of those weekends where things just went wrong. Maybe one of those months. But I'll take Rilo Kiley's advice and save my complaints for tomorrow. Or never :)

But I'll Save My Complaints For Tomorrow

I bought this bag in Hawaii. It's a feel good bag for me. It reminds me of a really great time in my life and it's crazy to think it's been almost a year since our wedding/honeymoon/Hawaii trip. I also love color blocked nails. These were fun and easy to do.
