Licor 43 Cocktail

Licor 43 Bottle

I am always intrigued by new liqueurs. I've tried so many things and love finding great mixers. When Licor 43 contacted me, I was interested in the idea of citrus and vanilla notes along with other spices, so I knew I had to try it and share with you.

This was a bit stronger than I expected, and while I can get both citrus and floral notes out of it, it's not something like schnapps where you can almost drink it pure out of the bottle. It almost smelled like a citrus and vanilla whiskey to me. If that makes sense. Yummy, but not fruity. The recipe Licor 43 suggested to me to try was this.

Licor 43 Mini Beer
Licor 43
Heavy Cream (I used light cream - it worked just as well)

Pour a glass 3/4 to the top with Licor 43. Then top off with a splash of cream and let it float to the top.

So it's really pretty and adorable, but it's definitely a shot. I'm not a shot girl - I cannot do them. I'm not big on downing my alcohol quickly for the sake of altering myself, and this wasn't sippable. It reminded me of some of the cream liqueurs out there - which I'm not a huge fan of. Since I'm more of a cocktail girl, I decided I knew exactly what would go with this. Root beer!!

Mug Root Beer - Fill to top

I simply mixed a shot of Licor 43 in with a glass of crushed ice and Mug Root Beer. And boy, did it turn out great. The two mix together amazingly and make out of the can root beer taste like craft root beer - the vanilla comes out, and the spices mix wonderfully. I drank this far too fast because it was so darn good.

  2. I love when you can see the line between different liquids in a glass! Looks so cool but then again if you want to taste real deal you have to mix them eventually. xD
