Sangria Sorbet

Berry Sangria Sorbet

Sangria is one of the most amazing things. There is something summery and romantic about it to me, and I really adore sangria flavored things. Which led me to believe freezing it and recreating my summery berry sangria in sorbet form would be brilliant. Not to toot my own horn, but it was. This is so berry-licious and yummy. I've taken to eating it on the porch in the random April 80 degree weather here in Pennsylvania.

Berry Sangria Sorbet

What You'll Need
3/4 Cup Red Wine (Preferably a sweeter dessert wine)
1 Cup Water
2 Cups White Sugar
1/4 Cup Corn Syrup
1 Shot (1.5 Ounces) Citrus Vodka
16 Ounces Mixed Berries, Fresh or Frozen
Ice Cream Maker
Containers for ice cream

Make sure to freeze your ice cream canister a day ahead of time if you are using one like mine!

First, put your berries in a large mixing bowl. Pour one shot of citrus vodka, and stir. Allow to sit for a few hours - maybe 2-3.

When you are ready, in a saucepot, mix the sugar, water, and wine. Simmer over medium high heat until all of the sugar is dissolved. Set in the fridge to cool.

Put your berry and vodka mixture into a blender. Set to puree and puree well. Then pour in the cooled sugar/wine/water mixture and 1/4 cup of white corn syrup. Puree again until well mixed.

Now, turn on your ice cream maker, pour in, and wait! Put into containers and freeze - it will be a little bit watery at first, it just needs to freeze a little longer. Be patient!

PS. Sorry for the lack of images of the process. Sadly, I erased a memory card without much attention and lost the process. Get at me with any questions!

Berry Sangria Sorbet

After freezing overnight, you can serve! Super yummy and great to make you feel like it's summer.

    1. You can replace the vodka with 1/8th cup lime juice and the wine with cranberry co mail juice or just use 2 cups water and voila. Berry sorbet, non alcoholic!

  15. ok, this is amazing. And how adorable storing it in the jars! All I'm missing to make this is an ice cream maker...or maybe the old ice cubs in ziplocs method would work?!
