DIY America Nails

America Nails

I love doing my nails up for holidays, and I went all out this Fourth of July. Here is a little tutorial on how to do some Captain America inspired 4th of July nails using tape. If that's a little hard for you, try painting your nails alternating blue and red and just simply doing polka dots with a nail pen like I did on my toes. Easy!

What You'll Need
A Solid Red Polish (I got this amazing red from Bravoe Runway's giveaway - thanks Bessie!)
A Solid Blue Poish
A Solid White Polish
Tape
Optional : White Nail Art Pen or Toothpick for the white polish

First, coat your nails with two coats of solid white. Wait to dry about 2 hours. I suggest painting then doing something else while you wait. If you don't wait long enough, the tape will take the polish off.

Cut your tape into smaller strips. I had 1/2" tape that I cut into 4 strips. Place two strips of tape on each fingernail. Then tape over the top of your nail as well.

Place tape where the blue lines show.
Coat the nail with 1 good coat of red nail polish. Wait to dry at the least 5 minutes then take the tape off. You should now have red lines on the bottom half of your nail. If you have the white nail pen, touch up any mistakes with it.

With your blue polish, carefully paint the top of your nails. Paint horizontally across.

Optional : With a nail pen or white nail polish and a toothpick, carefully draw stars on top of the blue top. Finish with a clear coat.

For the polka dot nails, just coat each nail in red or blue polish. Then with a nail pen or toothpick, draw polka dots!

  2. Awww, your nails are adorable! I wish I could be this creative. Usually I just end up painting one nail red, one white, one blue, etc. Repeat until out of nails. Borrr-ring.
