Under the Sea : Fish Toe Nails DIY

DIY Fishie Toe Nails

I love doing my nails. It's one of the many things I spent time on learning how to do. I'm just a weird personality who grew up with the internet and I do whatever I like to my husband's dismay at times. As a kid, my mom was really great and always allowed me to pursue the random array of arts and crafts I loved, from creating the Brady Bunch in popsicle stick figures to buying me Klutz books so I could learn to do my nails and braid hair. I learned a lot from those books.

Anyhow, when I was younger, my neighbors, who were like little sisters to me growing up, would come over and I would do all of our nails. One of our favorites to do, since we loved swimming in their pool everyday, were fish nails. I still love doing them 10 years later (yes, it is hard to believe that these awesome vivid memories happened 10 or more years ago! Time flies)

What You'll Need
Blue Nail Polish
White Nail Polish
Black Nail Polish
Colored Nail Polish
A Toothpick

Step One :
Paint all toe nails with a solid blue color. I chose Essie in Turqouise and Caicos. Wait about 10 minutes for them to dry.

Step Two :
Using a toothpick, or in my case, an old mechanical pencil, draw a large circle on your big toes like shown.

Step Three :
Using your toothpick, draw a v-shape for the fish's tail. Wait for your fishes to dry.

Step Four :
Using your toothpick, drop a small dot of white paint and wait for it to dry. With your white paint still out, draw bubbles coming from the fishes mouth. On all other toes, draw more bubbles!

Step Six :
Using your toothpick, drop an even smaller dot of black paint onto the white dot. Your eye is complete! And voila - adorable little fish nails. These are great for kids, going to the beach, or just a fun pick me up. You'll smile when you look down and see the goofy fish.
