On our first day in Baltimore, we decided that the aquarium was intriguing enough to give it a try on our second day there. We started off with a good walk over towards Federal Hill for brunch at Bluegrass Tavern. We needed a good, home-style meal that would fill us for the day since we planned on walking and adventuring a lot. It was delicious!

Baltimore inner Harbor from Aquarium

After brunch, we walked back toward Inner Harbor and bought our aquarium tickets. After hearing about the National Aquarium and how amazing it was - both from friends and websites - I was a bit disappointed. Large? Yes. But terribly laid out. And incredibly dirty - it looked like children has been drawing on all the windows with crayons (and we were there early). I found it weird to say I like the aquarium in Kentucky better (because, you know, it's in... Kentucky).  You can find more of the aquarium photos on Flickr, if you like.

We did enjoy ourselves, despite being stepped on a lot, but we definitely needed a beer, snack, and a seat afterwards. We took a nice walking tour of bars and restaurants, stopping in for snacks and beers wherever caught our eye. We even stopped into Rye again (we also visited last year in this post) for cocktails and duck fat fries!

Here's a perfect wedding related post amongst all the posts from our 'un-anniversary' trip. I believe that it's always a good time to celebrate considering I have someone willing to live with me / put up with me / love me. I'm also really excited that my girl Becki has found her match. Becki and her beau Jeremiah have popped up quite a few times here on the blog (from her engagement last October to her bridal shower last week).  It's always wonderful to see a friend in love. I am MORE than excited for her wedding, so planning out a good gift is more than essential. There's always a registry of course.....

Here are some of my Target registry picks for my friends. They live in a beautiful, Victorian (I believe?) home and have all of the cutest trinkets and things. Becki's always been an artist - her first major in college was photography - and always has the most creative ideas for her living spaces. Jeremiah is quite the handyman (I mean, he made a fish tank out of an old television set) and is always creating new things for their home.

I love the idea of 'being yourself, together'. Definitely each person in any relationship brings something unique to the table. My gift idea combines my artistic girl Becki being represented with a high-end point and shoot camera - an Panasonic Lumix (just like the camera I used for years before we got our DSLR). It was a great camera for all of our various trips. For Jeremiah, I wanted something handy that also could capture a memory. I always see little memos and photos hanging around their house, and thought a message board would be perfect! But, none of them were really 'them'. I loved the idea of giving a DIY away as a gift. So I've grabbed a few items from my local Target and crafted a little shopping list from it!

Our weekend in Baltimore was full of food, fun, and good beer. We began our first day by checking into our hotel a bit early then walking ourselves over to Fell's Point for lunch, shopping, and a few drinks before dinner. I adore Fell's Point and was really happy to be able to spend more time than we have gotten in the past since we normally can't drink as we have an hour drive home for the pups.

We didn't find anything shopping, which I was fine with, because the real gem here was finding the Admiral's Cup, which not only was a friendly comfortable place, but had 8 taps dedicated to local breweries. We fell in love with Full Tilt's Fleet Street Raspberry Wheat and Evolution Brewing's Jacques Au Lantern.

There are things I have taken to love about living in Pennsylvania, and that is mostly the abundance of fresh produce, farmer's markets (or really, having farms basically in my backyard), and a nice little city where parking is always available, on street, for free. I'm becoming accustomed to small city living finally. Jason and I enjoyed a day walking around downtown, stopping at the market, buying ourselves a local root beer, and just moseying about.

Madeira Ohio SignDeer Brat and Suzie Shirt

In all of the time I've had this blog, I've never taken photos in suburb of Cincinnati I spent over 10 years of my life in. Madeira, pronounced with a deer in the middle and not like the Portuguese island, is a quaint little town where all the local high school kids constantly hang out at this fountain. I was surprised to find none here when I pulled up, but then again, it was Sunday morning. I thought my new shirt with it's adorable stag sketch was the perfect fit to introduce you to a small part of my old town. Speaking of this shirt, it's from Brat & Suzie, an adorable British brand that is pretty much all about animals - you can see the variety of cute things here. It came from a new favorite store of mine called Surfdome. Obviously, I'm not a surfer ( and based on these photos, didn't grow up near a beach) , but don't judge a book by it's cover! In addition to a bunch of really cute swim suits (think Seafolly!), they carry some of my favorite brands as well - Sugarhill Boutique, Nixon, eyes and more. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in searching at specific stores I can forget to branch out - thank goodness my blog has taught me to keep my eyes open.
