Pickin' On

Pennsylvania has a lot of farms. I mean, a lot of farms. Agriculture is huge here, and my life has definitely changed a bit, especially since I moved closer to the more 'farm country' area. The farmer's markets here are mostly just 'this is our farm, it's located across from Target, we'll have a market.' My friend, Julie, happens to work for apples. The fruit. One of the apple growers here in Pennsylvania holds 'Pickfest', a bluegrass show in the middle of an apple field. I was truly shown as the 'city girl' as I can't handle bugs, but I did have an enjoyable time picking apples, listening to music, drinking some strange local hard cider, and talking with friends out in the middle of nowhere. That's Pennsylvania life for ya.

  1. That sounds like such a good time! Then again, I'm a country girl at heart, so anything with bluegrass in the middle of a field sounds awesome to me! Haha. Your necklace is too cute!

  3. This is such a perfect fall post! I'm not outdoorsy either, but I absolutely love fall festivals. Unfortunately I haven't been in years. Pumpkins AND apples in one day? Sounds wonderful to me! Also your dress is such a perfect fall color. I love the cute military-inspired jacket paired with it.

  4. This looks lovely. The house I'm moving to has an apple tree in the garden, how exciting!

  5. Fun color combo. The apple picking sounds fun; it is too cold for apples to grow well around here (well, crabapples can. How odd is that?)

  6. Your haircut is the best. Also, I love your fox bag. I want to know more about the cider...

    1. I wasn't so sure I liked it! It was made with crabapples, so it was weirdly sour and dry.

  9. Fun! That looks like Frecon Farms! My boyfriend and I were just there on Tuesday, hoping to do a little pick-your-own, but I failed to read that they only do that on weekends :( Their store is filled to the brim with yummy things though, and we bought a bottle of hard cider and a bottle of apple wine to try. I can't wait to go back and roam their apple fields!

Also, I was totally looking forward to meeting you and some other PA bloggers at the blogger meet-up last weekend, but that was the day my parents were in town. Oh well! May there be more meet-ups in the future! :)

    1. You would be correct - it is Frecon Farms! We enjoyed some cake from their store - but I skipped taking any cider home since we were there for awhile. And indeed we are planning on more meet ups!

  10. I'm not a bug person either. I am definitely afraid of them.
The apples looked so good! You definitely pick apples with style =D

  11. I love the color of your dress! This is perfect for pumpkin picking. Apple picking is my favorite and I always love to see posts about other bloggers going to orchards. I definitely noticed that there's a lot of farms in PA when I was driving through. I wish I had time to stop at some, although it probably is a whole different (and better) world in the fall. I'll have to try to visit PA again in the the fall one year!
