Glitz & Gold

I much prefer weekdays in Vegas, to start this off. I like small crowds and empty places. Friday was so much more crowded than Thursdays - it's crazy really the difference. We were able to walk around the hotels a bit more on Friday since my conference ended early, and we had a whole evening to waste. We wandered from our hotel, the Luxor, down to the Venetian and back, stopping along the way for drinks, stops in shops, and photos. Jason and I enjoyed ourselves a ton, stopping in at some great places, and ending the evening at the Cosmopolitan, where I had a delicious cider and bourbon drink then the most amazing pasta and pizza ever at D.O.C.G. I ate more foods with black truffles (with 3 of our 5 meals in Vegas) over those two days than I ever had before. We love them. It's becoming a problem, guys.

I'd like to say I don't fit in in Vegas, but honestly, no one really does. I have this image in my head that all the girls will be in high heels and tiny dresses (and indeed, the later it gets, the more there are), but in reality, there are tons of people with a variety of styles and backgrounds. Still, I thought the gold in this dress was the right amount of glitz to come along to Vegas with me. These shoes though. Ugh! I will have blisters forever from forgetting to bring my Keds!

  9. These shoes are perfectly glitzy for Vegas! I love this dress, the polka dots are so wonderful. Such a lovely look! And all that food looks so tasty, it's making me hungry! I've never been to vegas but I think I'd prefer the less crowded weekdays as well, crowds annoy me

Love your shoes and dress combo - I agree that it is the perfect amount of glitz. 15. Those pictures are so bizarre! lol. The giant bunny contrasted with those amazing stairs and the flowery roof. I've never been to Vegas but Andy went to see Cirque du Soleil so I actually imagine it as a bit of a crazy place. The first photo looks really interesting. Seems like there is way more to do than gamble!

  31. Vegas looks awesome. I hope to walk on the strip one day myself! Between all the mini dress people. I think you look great. And those shoes are awesome! But so stupid that they're not that comfortable. xo

  32. My glitter loafers from Target give me blisters too! It's the worst thing ever because they're so pretty! I'm still hoping they'll get worn in enough some day...
At least they looked super cute with your blue dress even though they hurt.

  35. I love how pretty navy and gold look together...and those shoes are so cute! But they do look like blister-city if you were walking around in them for a while. I hate when that happens! It's worse when you think a pair of shoes will be comfy and not give you blisters, and then they do anyway.

  36. I've never been to Las Vegas, but if there are giant rabbits hiding in greenery I'll definitely have to go! I'm glad to hear not everyone is dressed fancy at all hours. I admit I kind of feel intimidated by the constant glamour image Vegas has. Also- hooray! The "K" necklace is in this post!

  40. This post is a picture paradise! So many lovely pictures you've taken, Katherine! The food, the art, those incredible stairs made from cut stones... how beautiful! I just love how every picture you take tells a little story in its own.

"small crowds and empty places..." yep, that sounds about right. I'm definitely the same way. I'd rather wake up early to go shopping than wait until the late afternoon to wander around with crowds of other people!
